To the new year 6

To the year 5 that are going to be in year 6, in Mrs Latham’s class. I just want to let you know that being one of the most responsible children in the school is a massive opportunity, to be a leader and for people to look up to you and copy what you do. It is pretty fun and you can have a laugh with the teacher and all the other pupils in the class. You might be scared about the sats. But believe me there is nothing to be worried about. Mrs Latham is a helpful and pleasant teacher that is always willing to help you and teach you different things that you may not of learnt before. Also the home work is nothing to be scared of because some of it is doing art work and fun activities. By Connor and Aaron

Year 6 by Rebekah

Year 6 may seem very scary with all the SATS and all the responsibility but it’s a lot of fun. Most of the year is preparing for SATs but when they are finished year 6 go on a lot of exiting trips. There’s Whinmarleigh hall (PGL) for the people who paid, trips to the fire-station, bolton college, B and Q, Tesco and lots more. There are also activities to take part in such as the gamelan project, and the engineering project where we worked with some experts to create an end project which we showed to our mums and dads.

Year 6 is full of excitement and joy and if you try your best you’ll always have fun!

Final thoughts of year 6 by Tia

Year 6 this year was fab, It may seem scary with sats and all that but you have a brilliant time. Before I started year 6 my opinion was, I would be the one who the school would look up at, also I have to deal with s.a.t.s and i thought it was going to be horrible and hard but I was wrong. S.a.t.s. Was easy it was just like a normal test you take in any class (but they are a bit more important).
In reading this year I have improved on, not rushing through my book and slowing down to understand what was happening properly. English this year was fun, I picked up a lot on my sentence structure and using a vary amount of sentence openers. On maths I have picked up a lot on algebra and fractions, percentages, and decimal numbers. In SPAG (spelling punctuation and grammar) I have picked up on using more Interesting words, and putting similes and metaphors into my writing. Spelling this year I have done really well on. So i am looking forward to year 7 and I have got very good levels in sats so year 5’s going into year 6 it is not as bad as it sounds.

Final thoughts about year 6

It might seem scary being the oldest ones in the school and setting the example but being year 6 has many advantages.Going on trips and learning new things can be exiting for example;
I learnt more about algebra, fractions, shapes, varied types of sentences, how to use different punctuation, when you look at something it is upside down but turns the right way really fast.
being year 6 can be nerve-racking but it’s super fun and even though people say S.A.T.S are really difficult they are not.
Being in year 6 it fun, hard work and exciting.

Sweet memories from year 6 by Jake and Jasmine

Jas: I remember when I was young and the first time I came to this school mr bonner welcomed me with a warm hug and I met mrs Latham for the first time. As I learnt throughout the years I began to learn what an amazing, funny teacher she was.

Jake: I remember when it was world book day, I dressed up as captain underpants and everyone laughed at my costume but I didn’t mind because I was too.

Jas: I will miss my friends but mostly Mr Reid and Mrs Latham for working their socks off to make sure we get a good future and I would like to thank mrs Egan for the effort she put into helping us win and we trained hard with her. I will never forget you all.

Jake: I will miss some of my friends. Those of which are going to different schools. Also I will miss all of the teachers especially Mr Reid and Mrs Latham.

Overall year 6 is an easy year to live through, even though we had SATS it is actually quite easy. My only downfall is when we had to leave and we all wish you good look in year 6.

Being in year 6 by Chloe

You don’t have to worry about year six because it may seem hard but if you try you can always do your best. It has been a good opportunity in year six because you have lots of fun like going to a music centre to learn about gamalam music and dance , bowling, Macbeth, whinmarleigh hall pgl, b and q ,and lots lots more.

Sats test are really easy I found That out when it was doing it .At first I thought sats were going to be really hard but it wasn’t very hard I got 2 fours and one three and is really good for my age . Sats is all about trying your best and you will get to the target you want to earn. I’m just saying to try your best in everything you do and to not give up on yourself.

Our last blog post by Nyasha and Piper

What a fantastic experience we’ve had this year! Year 6 is amazing! Even though SATS seems very hard and frustrating, the tests are actually quite fun. After SATS, a lot of opportunities are presented to you, like projects and leavers trips. Tomorrow, we are going bowling and some of us have just come back from PGL. We have lots of memorable moments, all of them being fun and exciting. Our teachers are very supportive, especially during SATS.
We have lots of memories, a lot of them being projects and trips. Our favourite project was Gamelan. We learnt how to play Indonesian instruments as well as performing a dance based on Indonesian story called Malin Kundang ; the perfidious son. Another project we did was Macbeth, we performed it yesterday. The imperial war museum was really fun as well, we watched videos, smelt things and dressed up in army uniforms! Some year 6 girls even got to do some engineering, it was a wonderful experience!
On Friday, we are leaving this school. We are all really upset to leave all our teachers. A word of advice for anyone in year 5, moving on to year 6, never worry, try your best and always have fun.

Memories of year 5 by Georgia and Rebecca

In year 5 we have had an amazing time! We have all loved doing our food revolution. The teachers and pupils loved it! Our trip to Tesco was an opportunity to taste new and exiting foods. After that we were full to the brim. Our eyes were high in the sky as we went to Spaceport. We had lots of fun exploring and finding out new things. Some of the pupils had been able to improve on the reading with the years 10 and 11 at reading champions. Our tongues were tickled with lots of exotic and tropical fruit. as we got to take part in chef school we got to make heavenly chocolate truffles.
Our memories have been fantastically brilliant we hope to come across them again. This has been the most exiting year in st James so far .

The memorable memories in Y5 By Jack and Amy

The days of Y5 have ticked by.
We want to stay in Y5 so much that we feel like we’re going to cry.
We have enjoyed our food revolution,
and for many math problems we have found a solution.

Many friends we have made,
and together many times we have played.
Going to Tesco was so much fun,
and every day we’ve worked hard to get our work done.

Doing everything has been very great,
and we have tried every day to try and not be late.
At chef school we made berry special truffles,
and at christmas for dinner we have ate our Brussels.

We are going to cherish our memorable memories,
and keep them deep inside.
Our brains will make sure that those memories don’t run away and hide.
